The Labrador Retriever Breed

The Labrador Retriever is a strongly built, medium-sized, short-coupled, dog possessing a sound, athletic, well-balanced conformation that enables it to function as a retrieving gun dog; the substance and soundness to hunt waterfowl or upland game for long hours under difficult conditions; the character and quality to win in the show ring; and the temperament to be a family companion.

The Hoosier Labrador Retriever Club Members DO NOT support any rare colors, dilute, designer shades or false color advertisements claiming to be a true purebred Labrador. Buyer Beware of these people!

There are 3 colors of Labrador:  Black, Yellow and Chocolate.

HLRC 2023 Spring Specialty Show

The official term for dog shows is conformation — as in, the act of conforming or producing conformity. Dogs are being measured by how closely they conform to the standard of their particular breed.

AKC Sanctioned B-Match

Match shows provide people who are new to, or interested in, getting involved in conformation events.  Puppies 4 months and older.

Working Certificate Test

The Working Certificate program provides a way for Labrador owners to experience and develop an appreciation for the natural working abilities of their dogs without the lengthy and expensive commitment the competitive performance events require.

Outdoor Explore!

This event is brought to you by “The Power of Partnership”, a unique collaboration between the Tippecanoe County Park and Recreation Department and the Tippecanoe County Soil and Water Conservation District.
